Panopto
Panopto is Georgetown University’s cloud-based lecture capture and media playback service. It’s available to all faculty, staff and students that can be accessed in Canvas. Use Panopto to record content using your computer’s audio, video, and desktop screen. Instructors in Canvas can share lecture capture recordings and uploaded media with students in their Canvas courses.
To provide the best possible experience with Panopto we recommend setting your NetID@georgetown.edu email address as the default contact method in Canvas.
- You can check to see what your current contact method is in Canvas.
- Students will have their NetID email address set as the default in Canvas.
- If faculty and staff have claimed their first.last@georgetown.edu email alias then it’s likely set as the default contact address in Canvas.
- You can change your default contact method in Canvas to your NetID@georgetown.edu.
What can I do with Panopto?
- Record in-class lectures using a classroom or personal computer
- Record narrated PowerPoint presentations
- Record “webcam only” videos
- Upload media files from your computer that you wish to share with others
- Add quizzes to your Panopto recordings and sync the results in Canvas
- Record online, offline, and anywhere you can take your smartphone.
