Admin NetIDs and Aliases
UIS offers both administrative (admin) NetIDs which provide a mailbox for sending and receiving email and also Google Groups which function as mailing lists that allow you to manage group members who will each receive a copy of email sent to the list.
Administrative NetIDs and Aliases (Google Groups) are appropriate in cases where a general publishable e-mail address is needed.– For example, history@georgetown.edu or msfsinfo@georgetown.edu.
Access to the mailbox of an admin NetID may be delegated to other Georgetown NetID users so that others in addition to the owner may manage the mailbox.
Also, with Google Groups management of the group may be delegated to other Georgetown NetID users.
Note: Most three-letter combinations are already assigned to individuals and are unavailable for Admin NetIDs and Aliases.
