Data and Privacy

Under Georgetown’s enterprise agreements with approved vendors, robust data privacy and security protections are established for all institutionally provisioned AI tools.

  • Institutional vs. Consumer Accounts: Content and data entered into university-provisioned AI tools are not used to train the vendors’ public AI models. Always use your Georgetown-provided institutional account when conducting university business.
  • Security and Compliance: Georgetown-provisioned AI tools are covered by the same rigorous confidentiality and data security provisions as our core university services.
  • Allowed Data: Documents and data permitted in your Georgetown Google Workspace may be used in approved AI tools. Never input high-risk data without using a specifically approved AI tool for that data classification. See UIS.401.3 Data Handling Guidelines for details.
