Generative AI (Gen AI) is a type of artificial intelligence that creates new content by learning from existing data. It uses advanced algorithms to generate text, images and audio, simulating human creativity.
The university recognizes the transformative potential of generative AI in teaching, research and administration. As we integrate these technologies, we are committed to providing the community with tools that support innovation while maintaining our commitment to academic excellence.
Claim your license
Staff, faculty and students can claim a Google Gemini license by opting in. Pilot group members can claim an OpenAI ChatGPT license on a first-come, first-served basis by opting in.
Security and Data Privacy
Protecting university research, student records and intellectual property is a shared responsibility.
Always use institutional accounts for university business. Unlike personal or consumer accounts, Georgetown’s university-provisioned AI tools are configured to ensure your prompts and data are never used to train public AI models.
Never input high-risk data, such as protected health information (PHI), personally identifiable information (PII) or controlled unclassified information (CUI), into any AI tool that is not specifically approved for that data classification.
