Web Conferencing
Google Meet
Google Meet is a video conferencing tool that enables you to securely make video calls, and conduct impromptu meetings with people both within and outside Georgetown. Unlike Zoom at Georgetown, Google Meet runs in a browser window on your computer. You can use Google Meet on your mobile device as well by downloading the app from either the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Android).
Zoom
Zoom is a web conferencing tool that provides a platform to conduct live online conferences, presentations, lectures, meetings and group chats. Use Zoom on your desktop or laptop computer (Windows and Mac), mobile device (iOS and Android), or other conferencing systems such as Polycom (H.323), to connect to anyone internal or external to Georgetown.
Faculty can use the Zoom Conferencing tool in their Canvas courses to schedule meetings with students and hold online office hours. Students (and faculty too) can use Zoom outside of Canvas to create and host their own meetings.
All Georgetown faculty, staff and students will receive licensed Zoom Pro accounts. This allows for 300 attendees in all Zoom meeting rooms. If you anticipate more attendees please email us in advance.
