Requesting Zoom Phone

IMPORTANT: Make sure to sign in to your Zoom account before you request new Zoom Phone service.

Requesting Zoom Phone for an Individual

To request Zoom Phone for any GU faculty or staff member with no existing GU phone number, contact UIS by emailing help@georgetown.edu. In the request, please include the name, NetID, office location, and any special needs (e.g., physical phone) of the person for whom you’re requesting Zoom Phone. 

To request Zoom Phone for a GU faculty or staff member where your department wants the service to retain an existing GU phone number (e.g., from a former staff member in that department), please include that phone number in your request. 

Requesting Zoom Phone for a Department

To request Zoom Phone for a department common (or “position”) area (e.g., front desk or reception area, conference room), please email help@georgetown.edu with your request. 

Notes

  • The requester for department Zoom Phone service should have authorization to submit the request and will need access to relevant work tags.
  • Physical phones are required to use Zoom Phone in common/position areas. 

Logging in to Your New Zoom Phone Account (First-Time Login)

Once UIS has completed the request for Zoom Phone, the employee (for individual Zoom Phone account) or department requestor (for departmental Zoom Phone account) will receive a confirmation email with the phone number that has been assigned and stating that Zoom Phone is now available to use. Log into the Zoom account on the web to complete the initial setup steps and to access the Zoom Phone settings.

(IMPORTANT: You must be logged in to the Zoom client on your computer to access and use Zoom Phone. [Click here if you need to install the Zoom client.] ) After you log in to Zoom, click the phone icon located at the top of your screen to display Zoom Phone and begin setting up your Zoom Phone account.
