Office of the CIO
The Office of the CIO develops and implements technology strategy, develops a strategic plan for technology needs and initiatives of the university, and articulates that strategic plan to the university at large.
Identity and Access Management
The Identity and Access Management group creates and manages the university’s NetIDs and accounts, and manages GOCard operations and systems.
Information Security (UISO)
The University Information Security Office (UISO) group helps maintain the security of the university’s systems, networks, and data. UISO also maintains security standards and policies that the university community are required to abide by.
UISO also provides regular communications such as security updates and alerts. UISO offers and manages a number of applications and services (Duo two-factor authentication, VPN) to the university community to protect their systems and data.
Service Management
The Service Management group provides technology support and training, desktop support, and instructional and informational communications on both the UISO Web site and online help knowledge base.
Web Services
The Web Services group manages and maintains university Web sites, manages the standards, security, usage, and accessibility of the university’s web platform, and offers web project management, consultation, and training services.
Research Technologies
The Research Technologies group supports the technology needs of the Georgetown research community by providing advanced and high-performance computing technology-related equipment resources and expertise for university research projects and initiatives.
Student Systems and Educational Technologies
Student Systems
Student Systems develops and maintains numerous applications in support of Georgetown’s students and faculty members. Among these applications are the University’s Student System of Record (Banner), PeopleSoft for Undergraduate Admissions, DegreeWorks for degree auditing, fsaAtlas for International Student & Scholar Management, FCE (Faculty Course Eval) for Main Campus and the Medical Center, and Apply Yourself for Admissions.
Educational Technologies
Educational Technologies (EdTech) supports the university’s core mission of teaching, learning, and research by implementing innovative, enterprise-level academic computing systems and services. EdTech manages course management, interactive media, synchronous collaboration, lecture capture, and other dynamic online academic tools and integrations for use by faculty, staff and students.
Network Computing Services
The Network Computing Services group manages and maintains the university’s hardware and computing infrastructure, the Georgetown WiFi and wired networks for Internet connectivity, telecom (voice and data) services, Web-based file storage services, and on- and off-campus computing facilities, such as the university’s data center in Laurel, MD.
Administrative Applications
The Administrative Applications group manages Georgetown360 (Hoya360, GUFaculty360) and the Georgetown Management System (GMS). The group also provides technology support for the university’s research community, and maintains key business reporting and analytics systems.
Human Capital Management (HCM) and Financial Systems
The HCM and Financial Systems group manages and maintains the university’s Human Resources system and financial systems. The group also manages the Georgetown Management System (GMS), used by the university community for many financial and human resources transactions.
