Welcome New Students!

University Information Services (UIS) is your one-stop shop for accounts, devices, and tech help at Georgetown. We know move in week is hectic, so we compiled a short list of our services that will make your GU transition smooth.

You can also check out even more technology resources for students.

Move-in Week Checklist

NetID and GOCard

All incoming students should have received a NetID over the summer. Visit our NetID page for FAQs, how to reset your password, and how to request a NetID if you didn’t receive one. Can’t remember your NetID? Search your name in the Georgetown online directory.

Your GOCard is your Georgetown identification card and can be used to make purchases on and off campus. You should receive your card on move-in day. Visit the GOCard Web site for information on where you can use your card, how to add funds, and what to do if you lose your GOCard.

Connect Your Devices

To connect your computer and phone to free, secure WiFi, log in to the SaxaNet network with your NetID and password. If your move-in crew is wondering if they can use WiFi, direct them to GuestNet.

For security reasons, other devices (like those used for gaming and streaming) will have to be registered before they are connected to the internet. Please visit the GURegistered WiFi page for information on which devices fall into this category and how to register your device.

Stay Secure

As a Georgetown student, you have access to free anti-virus and anti-malware software — because the last thing you need during finals week is a virus. UIS has also added a two-factor authentication service called Duo for even more security. See the Georgetown Duo two-factor authentication site for details on how to enroll.

Connect with UIS

Students are welcome to contact the Georgetown University Service Center by going to help.georgetown.edu. You can also visit one of our technology support walk-up service desk located in the Leavey Center bookstore. We also recommend downloading the Georgetown Mobile App for Georgetown shuttle tracking, campus event information, and safety alerts. To get the latest news on campus tech updates, connect with UIS on Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat @GU_UIS.
