Google Assignments: Instructor Guide

Instructors use Google Assignments to:

  • Create Canvas Collaborations in a course. Make sure to select the Google Assignments LTI 1.3 version from the drop down menu, which supports Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Drawings, and Sites.
  • Create Canvas Assignments that use materials from an instructor’s Google Drive account as a template for students to personalize.
  • Create Canvas Assignments that allow students to submit files from their Google Drive account and where instructors provide feedback on submissions and grade (choose to grade with Canvas Speedgrader or use Google Assignment’s built-in grader).
  • Create Canvas Assignments and obtain originality reports on student submissions to help check for potential plagiarism– limited to 5 assignments per course (more on Google Assignments originality reports and privacy).
