Announcing GlobalProtect VPN Platform
Posted in UIS News & Announcements
Dear Colleagues,
UIS is pleased to introduce a significant change to the Virtual Private Network (VPN) service for secure remote connections to the University cloud and on-premise technology resources. Prisma GlobalProtect is the new platform selected to complement and support the growing Georgetown community as we embrace the “Work and Learn Wherever You Are” environment.
Prisma GlobalProtect protects the hybrid workforce with superior security while providing exceptional user experiences from a simple, unified security product. Purpose-built in the cloud to secure at cloud scale, only Prisma GlobalProtect protects all application traffic with best-in-class capabilities while securing both access and data to dramatically reduce the risk of a data breach.
In the coming weeks, UIS will deploy the Prisma GlobalProtect client to all eligible faculty and staff members who require a VPN connection to Georgetown servers and applications. VPN users can download the client onto their GU computers from the GU Software Online Store, a Self Service Desktop Client, or a secure portal.
The current VPN solution, Cisco AnyConnect, will be disabled shortly after all the end users successfully migrate to the new platform.
Please be on the lookout for an email from OCIO@georgetown.edu notifying you of your migration date to use the new GlobalProtect client for your VPN connection.
If you have any questions or would like more information regarding the new Georgetown VPN platform, please refer to the FAQ on the UIS website on GlobalProtect VPN. You can also reach out to help@georgetown.edu.
Sincerely,
University Information Services
