Sending a Fax
Sending a Fax from a PaperCut Printer
You can send a fax from any GU PaperCut printer using the PaperCut fax service.
- At the printer, authenticate by either tapping your GOCard or Mobile GOCard, or tapping on the keyboard icon and then entering your NetID and password (or GUID and PIN) at the prompt.
- Select Scan.
- Select the phone number listed. (Note: If you don’t see a phone number listed, contact UIS for assistance.)
- In the next screen, tap the plus sign icon to add recipients. Select the option Prompt for more pages, as highlighted below, if you’re faxing a multipage document.
- Enter the fax number to which you want to send the fax, and then press Add Recipient. (Note: When entering the recipient’s number, you don’t need to enter ‘1’ before the number, and you don’t need to add spaces or dashes between the numbers.)
- Verify your document settings. You can add more recipients if needed, or edit document settings. Then place your document in the document feeder. When you’re ready, press Start.
You should see the following status screen: - When all your pages have been fed through the document feeder, you should see the following screen. Click Finish if you’re done, or click Scan new document to fax another document.
You should see the following confirmation message. (Note: You’ll also receive an email confirmation.)
Sending a Fax Via Email
Note: You can send a fax only with your NetID@georgetown.edu email address (not your ‘firstname.lastname’ email address). - Open a new composition window from your Georgetown Gmail account.
- In the To field, enter the fax number and then enter westfax.com. (For example, if the fax number is 202-123-4567, you’d enter 2021234567@westfax.com.)
- In the Subject field, enter a description of your fax.
- Attach the document you want to fax. (Note: You can attach more than one document if needed.)
- Click Send when you’re done.
You should receive an email notification with the results of your fax. (The recipient should also receive an email notification.) The email you receive will also include details about the fax. If sent successfully, the fax status should indicate Sent.
