Service Advisory: Georgetown Management System (GMS) March 8-9, 2024

Posted in UIS News & Announcements

Dear Georgetown Community Members,

The Georgetown Management System (GMS) will be unavailable from Friday, March 8 at 9 p.m. EST through Saturday, March 9 at 5 p.m. EST in order to implement Workday’s semi-annual system update. The only impact for Georgetown employees will be a temporary inability to access GMS during this outage period. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience, and will post progress updates to the GMS website.

Workday’s release theme for this upgrade continues to focus on improving efficiency, enhancing the user experience, and advancing their analytical tools for providing better insights for data-driven decision making. With this upgrade, we are excited to announce the introduction of two notable features:

  • Workday Assistant, a conversational chatbot designed to help you complete common tasks, discover information and get support.
  • “Requisitions Experience Unification” feature for a more streamlined process using the Requisitions Worklet.

Other notable enhancements include additional supported languages within Workday, a “Quick Review” of “Awaiting Your Action” items on the GMS Homepage for easier access and action, a new Jobs Hub that replaces the Career worklet, and a new Job Profile business process.

Following the update, please refer to the Workday 2024 R1 Employee Quick Reference Guide for more details about these and other changes. The reference guide will be located on the GMS website under the Training section, which contains detailed explanations of the changes you can expect to find in the new release. If you manage student employees, please ensure that they are aware of this outage and upcoming changes.

If you encounter any GMS issues, please contact the UIS Service Center.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

GMS Team
