Adding a Network Printer to Your Windows Computer

  1. Go to the Xerox home page.
  2. On the Xerox home page, click on the Customer Support tab, and then click All Support and Drivers.
    Select 'Customer Support', and then select 'All Support and Drivers'
  3. On the next page, enter the printer type, and then press Enter or click on the Search (magnifying glass) button. (Note: In the example shown below, “C8055” is entered for the printer model.)

  4. In the search results, click on the Drivers & Downloads tab, and then click on the Drivers & Downloads listing.

  5. In the next screen, make sure the correct Windows operating system version is selected for your computer in the Platform drop-down. (In the example, Windows 10 x64 is displayed.)

    Scroll down until you see the Drivers section of the page. Under the Drivers section, you should see the listing Xerox Smart Start – Driver Installer. In that listing, click on the check box next to I agree to the Terms and Conditions, and then click Download. (Note: If you don’t see Xerox Smart Start – Driver Installer listed in the results, look for a listing for PS Driver.)
    Select 'Xerox Smart Start - Driver Installer', agree to license terms, then click 'Download'
  6. In the following pop-up window, click Save File.
    Click 'Save File'
  7. Open a Windows Explorer window, and then navigate to your Downloads folder. If you selected Windows 10 x64 for the Platform, look for a file named XeroxSmartStart_1.6.26.0, and then double-click on that file listing. (Note: The file name version number may differ.)

  8. If you see the following screen, click Yes. (Note: If you don’t see this message, or receive a message that you need to be an administrator on your computer to perform the installation, please contact the Georgetown Service Center to request installation of the printer driver.
    Click 'Yes'
  9. In the next screen, click Agree to accept the license terms and conditions.

  10. In the next screen, you should see a list of printers.

Printer Install Steps if You See Your Printer Listed

  1. In the next screen, make sure the Print System and Driver PDL options shown below are selected, and then click Install.
    Select 'Type 3' for the Print System, select 'PS' for Driver PDL, and then click 'Install'
  2. After a few moments, you should see the installation confirmation screen with the message Install Complete. Click Done. (Note: If the printer driver doesn’t install successfully [if you don’t see Install Complete or receive a message that the installation wasn’t successful], contact the Service Center for assistance.)
    Click 'Done'

Printer Install Steps if You Don’t See Your Printer Listed

  1. In the following screen, enter your printer’s IP address, and then click Continue.

    To find out the IP address, perform the following:
    a. At the printer control panel, press the Home button.
    b. Touch Device > About.
    c. Record the IP address from the display.
    d. To return to the Home screen, press the Home button.

  2. In the next screen, click Advanced Install.
    Click 'Advanced Install'
  3. After a few moments, you should see the installation confirmation screen with the message Install Complete. Click Done.

    (Note: If the printer driver doesn’t install successfully [if you don’t see Install Complete or receive a message that the installation wasn’t successful], contact the Service Center for assistance.)
    Click 'Done'

You’ve now successfully set up a printer on your Windows computer.

Note: Once you’ve added a printer, you can use the Windows settings to add any other printers. To do this, perform the following steps:

  1. Open the “Settings” window by clicking on the Start button and selecting Settings.
  2. In the Settings window, select Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  3. Click on the plus sign icon to add another Xerox printer.
