Mobile Print FAQ

What is Mobile Print?
Mobile Print enables students to print to public h.Print Student Print printers on campus from a compatible mobile device. Once you submit a document to print, you will be able to retrieve that document at a printer near your location by swiping your GOCard and following the on-screen instructions.

Who is eligible to use Mobile Print?
At this time, current Georgetown students, faculty, and staff with a valid address are eligible for Mobile Print using supported public h.Print Student Printers.

From which mobile devices can I print?
You can print from a compatible iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, or Android phone or tablet.  This device must be able to install and run the Xerox Print Portal mobile app.

What document file types are supported?
The following file types are supported:

  • Microsoft Word (.doc, .docm, .docx)
  • Microsoft PowerPoint presentations (.ppt, .pptm, .pptx)
  • Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets (.xls, xlsm, .xlsx)
  • Text and rich text files (.rtf, .tif, .tiff, .txt)
  • Images (.gif, .jpeg, .jpg)
  • Adobe PDF (.pdf)

The following file types may be supported on certain devices:

  • E-mail messages (.eml)
  • Images (.png)
  • Compressed files (.zip)
  • Docuworks (.xdw)
  • Open Office file types (.ods, .odp, .odg, .odf, .odt)

Which printers can I use to print my document?
You can print to any printer that is part of the h.Print Student Print network.  From inside the mobile app, you can browse a map of available locations.  You can also search by the name of the location.

Can I print from any wireless network?
You can print from anywhere your device has 3G, 4G / LTE, or SaxaNet wi-fi. Mobile Print does not work when connected to GuestNet.

Can I print both color and black & white from my device?
Yes, but not all printers are able to print in color. Be sure to check the available printers listed on your device to verify whether they can print both color and black & white.

How do I access my print job at the printer?
At the printer, you can swipe your GOCard in the card reader to retrieve a list of pending jobs.  Simply select the document you wish to print and confirm payment.

How much does it cost?

  Single Sided (Simplex) Double Sided (Duplex)
Monochrome $.10 $.025 a side*
Color $.20 $.20 a side


*Note: Jobs with an uneven number of pages are reported by Windows and Macintosh, the last page is charged at the Simplex rate.

  • Ex: 1 page monochrome duplex job = $.10.
  • Ex: 2 page monochrome duplex job = $.05.
  • Ex: 3 page monochrome duplex job = $.15 (.05 for the double sided page and .10 for single sided page 3.)

Once I submit my document for print, how long will it stay in the queue? Do I need to print it right away?
Documents will remain in the print queue ready for you to print for up to 4 hours.  For security reasons, only your GOCard can be used to release a job that you submit.

Can I set up a favorite printer?
Yes. You can do this by tapping the “star” icon when viewing information about a printer from within the Xerox Print Portal app.
