Downloading the Dialpad App

The first time you make a call from your computer or mobile device, select the option Enable HD Calling when prompted.

 

 

Mac

Note You will need Mac OS X 10.9 or higher to download and install Dialpad.

  1. Go to the Dialpad download Web page
  2. Click on the Download button.

     
  3. At the prompt, click Save to save the Dialpad.dmg file (save the file to your Downloads folder).
  4. Right-click on the file listing at the bottom of your window, and then select Show in Finder

     
  5. In the Finder window, double-click on the Dialpad.dmg file. 

     
  6. In the following pop-up window, drag the Dialpad icon to the Applications Folder icon.

     
  7. Open a Finder window and go to the Applications folder. Double-click on the Dialpad application icon.

     
  8. In the Dialpad window, click Login with Google.

     
  9. In the next screen, enter your Georgetown email address and then click Next.

     
  10. (?) In the next screen, click on Organizational Google Apps Account.

     
  11. In the Georgetown login screen, enter your NetID and password (as shown in the example below), and then click Sign In. If you’re enrolled in Duo, you’ll be prompted to authenticate on your device.

     
  12. In the next screen, click Allow.

The Dialpad main window is displayed (as shown here), and you'll be able to start using Dialpad.

 

Windows

  1. Go to the Dialpad app download page.
  2. Click Download.

     
  3. Click Save File in the pop-up window.

     
  4. In a Windows Explorer window, navigate to the DialpadSetup.exe file, and then double-click on the DialpadSetup.exe file listing.
  5. In the next screen, click Log in with Google.

     
  6. In the next screen, enter your Georgetown email address ("jh123" is entered in the example below) and then click Next.

     
  7. If the next screen is displayed, select Organizational Google Apps Account.

     
  8. In the Georgetown login screen, enter your NetID and password, and then click Sign In.  (In the example below, "jh123" is entered as the NetID.) If you’re enrolled in Georgetown Duo, you’ll be prompted to authenticate with Duo on your device.

     
  9. In the next screen, click Allow.

     
  10. Click Allow in the next screen (to enable Dialpad to view other Georgetown Dialpad users).

     
  11. In the next screen, click Allow to enable Dialpad to access your Google account.

     
  12. The Dialpad home screen is displayed. Click Start Using Dialpad to begin.

iOS

  1. Open the App Store. 
  2. In the App Store, enter "dialpad" in the search box, and then select "dialpad' from the search results. The Dialpad app listing should be displayed. 
  3. Tap on the icon highlighted below to download the app. (down-pointing arrow in a cloud)

     
  4. Tap Open

     
  5. If prompted, enter the password for your Apple ID, and then tap OK. The app download process begins. 

     
  6. Tap Open

     
  7. Tap Start Making Calls.

     
  8. In the next screen, tap Log In with Google

     
  9. In the next screen, select your Georgetown account if listed, or choose Use another account. (If you selected your Georgetown account, go to step 12.) 

     
  10. If the next screen is displayed, enter your Georgetown email address, and then tap Next

      
  11.  If the Georgetown login screen is displayed, enter your NetID and password, and then tap Sign In. If you use Georgetown Duo, you will be prompted to authenticate using Duo. 

     
  12. In the next screen, enter your mobile number (the number "2021234567" is entered in the example shown below), and then tap Activate My Phone. (You need to enter your phone number so that Dialpad can recognize your phone. Also, doing this will enable you to use a Wi-Fi connection to make and receive calls with Dialpad, and will enable you to avoid calls counting against your data plan.) 

    Dialpad will then call your mobile device: 

     

  13. Answer the call. 

     
  14. At the prompt, verify your mobile number.  
     
  15. In the following confirmation screen, tap Start Making Calls

     
  16. Tap OK in the pop-up window to allow Dialpad to send you notifications. 

     
  17. Tap OK in the next pop-up window to allow Dialpad to access your contacts. 

     
  18. Tap OK in the next pop-up window to allow Dialpad to access your device's microphone. 

    The Dialpad main screen is displayed, as shown in the example below: 

     

  19. Enable Wi-Fi Calling on your device in order to make and receive calls over Wi-Fi (if you're in a location with nonexistent or weak cell service). With Wi-Fi Calling, you won't incur data charges.

Android

  1. Go to the Play Store on your device.

     
  2. Enter “Dialpad” in the search box. Tap on the Dialpad listing (from Dialpad, Inc) from the search results highlighted below. 

     
  3. In the next screen, tap Install.

     
  4. In the next screen, tap Accept to allow Dialpad access to the listed items.

    The install process begins. (This might take a few moments to complete.) 
     

  5. In the next screen, tap Open.

     
  6. In the next screen, tap Start Making Calls.

     
  7. In the next screen, tap Log In with Google.

     
  8. You might be prompted to select an account. Select your Georgetown email address, and then tap OK


     

  9. In the following confirmation screen, tap Start Making Calls.  

    You should see the main Dialpad screen displayed: 

     

  10. Swipe right and then tap Settings

     
  11. In the Settings screen, tap on HD Calling (Beta)

     
  12. Select the option Enable HD Calling for both Inbound Calls and Outbound Calls

You're now ready to start using Dialpad
