NAVIGATION TOOLS

Your Web site is one of many that resides on the Georgetown Web server. In order for users to find your site, we have provided several navigational tools they can use to locate your pages. Our statistics show that these tools are some of the most visited GU sites. In addition, there is a link to each of these tools on almost every page on the site.

Site Index

• The Site Index provides users with a comprehensive list of all departments and organizations that have Web sites here at Georgetown. Sites can be listed by the name of your choice and can also be cross-listed.

Contents Database

• The Site Map provides users with a list of departments and organizations based on a select number of categories. You can choose one or more categories under which to list your site.

To add your site to both the Contents Database and Site Index, fill out the form at https://www12.georgetown.edu/uis/web/accounts/sites/.

University Search Engine

• You can improve how the search engine indexes your site by adding the appropriate metatags to your pages. More information about metadata can be found at
  http://uis.georgetown.edu/web/publishing/search.html.
  
  In addition, you will find information about how the Georgetown Ultraseek search engine indexes your pages and how you can improve the ranking of your site.

University Directory

• The Georgetown Directory contains information about GU students, faculty, and staff. Web access to the University Directory server is maintained by University Information Services. After searching for a name, NetID, phone number, group or department, click on any University NetID to display more detailed information. If you would like to update your information in this directory, you must contact your departmental directory coordinator.
