CONNECTIVITY TROUBLESHOOTING
Connecting to the Web server:
- You should have received your Web server numbers and directory path when you received notification via e-mail that your Web space was created.
- If you did not receive this information or have misplaced it, please send an e-mail to webmaster@georgetown.edu.
- If this is not for a faculty or student Web site, please include the title of the department or organization as well as your NetID.
- If you are using FileZilla:
- In the Address field at the top of the screen, type in: sftp://www#.georgetown.edu (The # is the number of the server that was assigned to you).
- In the User Name field enter your NetID.
- In the Password field enter your NetID password.
- In the Port field enter 22.
- Click on the Quickconnect button.
- If your login is valid, you will see a list of folders and files displayed in the right-hand side of the window. You have successfully connected to the Web server.
- If you cannot login, double check your assigned server number and your NetID password (see below).

- Select FTP in the uppermost drop-down box.
- In the "What is the host name or FTP address of your Web server?" box, type in: www#.georgetown.edu (The # is the number of the server that was assigned to you.)
- In the "What folder do you want to store your files in?" box, type in the full path of your directory, starting with web/
- Enter your NetID in the "What is your FTP login:" box.
- Enter your NetID password in the "What is your FTP password:" box.
- Check the "Use Secure FTP (SFTP)" checkbox.
- Click on the "Test Connection" button.
- If you cannot connect, try using /web at the beginning of your directory path.
If you still cannot login to the Web servers, check your NetID password:
- In your Web browser, browse to the following address: http://www.georgetown.edu/access/
- Click on either the faculty/staff or student services links.
