WEB SERVER ACCOUNTS
In order for your website to be available on the web, it must be located (or "hosted") on a web server. All new websites for Georgetown departments and individuals are hosted in the new virtual server environment. This environment consists of a server for development purposes only (www7.georgetown.edu) and a server for applications that are in production. To create or modify a website on these servers, you will need to apply for webspace.
IMPORTANT NOTE - You MUST reset your NetID password first before applying for any kind of webspace. This enables your NetID account to be recognized in the new web servers. Failure to do so can result in a delay of up to 2 weeks in obtaining your webspace! Click here to reset your NetID password.
Student and Faculty personal research webspace accounts
Departments and Administrative Offices webspace accounts
- If you wish to develop a new site or migrate an existing GUSUN site to the new servers, please fill out the Departments/Organization Web Account Request Form.
- If you are managing a departmental or organizational website and you wish to transfer ownership or add or remove users, please use the same form above. Please include the new owner NetID or the user NetID(s) you wish to add or remove. Only a site owner can place this request!
Student Organizaztions
- If you represent an official Georgetown Universtiy student organization and wish to obtain webspace for your organization's needs, please contact the Center for Student Programs (CSP) office by completing this Student Org Webspace Form.
Staff webspace accounts
- If you are a staff member and you wish to obtain webspace, you must contact the webmaster of your department. Your department webmaster must authorize and grant you webspace in your department's directory.
Other information
- Obtaining an account on any UIS Web hosting server requires a NetID. All Georgetown students, faculty, and staff have NetIDs. If you are an affiliated non-employee and do not have a NetID, please send an e-mail to webmaster@georgetown.edu.
- An account and webspace are all you need to work on most Georgetown Web sites. In some situations, however, you may also need to apply for an account for one of the following Web hosting services:
