The wildcard for searching in GUShare is the / (forward slash). Remember to add information in relation to the file name.

You will be prompted to add a portion of the file name, a word or phrase within the file, and then asked where the search should begin. If you are looking for a specific file and you know which folder it is located, browse through to that folder for the search.

While you are within a search, you can load the last search, or clear all of the parameters you have set.

Save the search by naming the search. It will appear on the left side for a quick search.

Bookmarkers are useful for shortcuts to folders. Click on the bookmark icon on the right side and you have the option to add a bookmark. Choose a name, and the directory to add the bookmark. Now, a permanent bookmark should appear on the left bar. Below are instructions to add a directory (not a file) to your bookmarks within GUShare. You cannotbookmark s file - only a directory.
- From you email message, click on link to access the directory
- Enter your NetID and NetID Password
- A window will appear on your browser with the directory and a list of files
- Click on the link that says "Launch WFS WebUI" in the far left corner of the window (under the directory name).
- This will open GUShare directory into the folder/directory.
- Bookmark this location by clicking on the last icon next to: Directory:/yourNetID/directory name.
- Double - check to see if the bookmark was added by expanding the bookmarks section of your tree on the left in GUShare. This should work every time you log into GUShare. Youshould be able to select the form bookmarks.
- Below are the steps necessary to add tickets emailed to you to your web browser's bookmark. This will not work in GUShare as a bookmark.
- copy and paste the URL in Internet Explorer
- Once you see the page appear in Xythos, click on favorits (or bookmakrs), and add to favorites (Bookmark this page ) in your web browser.
- You are given th option to modify the name to something easy to understand (ex. Training Docs), and click on OK.
- Click on favorites (bookmarks), and Organizre favorites (Manage Bookmarks).
- Right click with you mouse on the link created in step 'C' and select Properties
- Replace the URL field with the link included in the ticket.
- Click on OK. Your browser will then store thr correct URL for the bookmark. This process should work in all browsers.
- Preferences
- Email address - You may want to add that once you have decided which client will be tied to your GUShare account.
- Time Zone - Within the Asia section you will see the Qatar option. This will only affect a search on your toolbar.
- Time Format - choose which data and time style works best for you.
- Contacts and Groups are useful if you frequently share files. Once the Group has been created, it is very easy to assign rights to the group members. You must know the NetID of people you want to become a part of your contact and user group list. Click on Contacts and Groups on the left panel and add a new contact by finding users in the Georgetown.edu location, whose ID contains and enter their. Creating Groups can be adding members from your contact list, or other individuals to the group you have created.
- Locking and unlocking files/folders is important when you are sharing a file/folder. Make sure no one has access to yourfiles while you are working on them by locking them. Unlock them once the files have been saved and properly uploaded.
- Managing a file/folder - click on the Manage Icon
- You have the option to lock the file. Click on the link for locks.
- Sharing - decide who will get access to the file. Click on sharing.
- Tickets - assign for those who are not in the GUShare environment.
- Comments can be added when the collaboration section. You will see how many comments are tied to the file.
- Custom Properties - In order to use the custom properties, you must assign a value. The property can be expiredate, newtime, etc. The value should be yes or no, archived, etc.
- Logging is a method of tracking who is accessing or mogifying your files or tickets. This must be turned on if you intend to view the log.
