Hoyanet Services: Subscribing, Moving, & Canceling

Subscribing to Hoyanet Services

In general, you can use Student Access+ to subscribe to Hoyanet Services:

  1. Log into Access+ at <http://www.georgetown.edu/studentaccess/>.
  2. Click on Hoyanet Services
  3. Click on Add/Change Hoyanet Services
  4. Change the services you want to add from NO to YES, and then click on Submit

See the sections below for notes about specific services.

AUDIX Voice Mail

Subscribe for voice mail through Student Access+. You can share a single voice mailbox with all of your roommates, or you can have separate voice mailboxes for each roommate. Voice mail service will be activated within three (3) business days.

Shared Voice Mailbox

Only one roommate needs to sign up for a shared voice mailbox. This is the person who will be charged.

Individual Voice Mailboxes

The first roommate who signs up should sign up for a shared voice mailbox. All other roommates should sign up for individual voice mailboxes. Each roommate will be billed separately.

Cable Television

Subscribe for cable television through Student Access+. Only one roommate in a dorm room or apartment needs to subscribe. This is the person who will be charged. If you subscribe outside of the preview period, cable service will be activated within three (3) business days.

In apartments, service will be turned on for the jack in the living room. If you live in Nevils, Village A, or Village B and would like to have a bedroom jack activated, please use the Bedroom Cable Jack Activation Request form.

Free Preview Period

UIS runs a free cable television preview period at the beginning of the fall semester. When you arrive on campus, the jack in your main living area will be active. The preview period will run through September 1, 2008. Cable service will be disconnected at the end of the preview period.

If you subscribe before the end of the preview, your service will not be disconnected. If you subscribe for cable on or after September 10, you will be charged an installation fee. Please allow 3 business days from the time you subscribe for your cable to be activated. There is no free trial period at the start of the spring semester.

Activating Additional Cable Jacks in Apartments

If you or a roommate have already subscribed to cable service for your apartment through Student Access+, you can activate other jacks as well. Begin the process by completing the Hoyanet Bedroom Cable Jack Activation Request form online. To complete the process, bring your GOCard to the UIS Billing Office in St. Mary's G-30 to pay for service. Additional jack activations are for the current semester only and incur the same service costs as primary cable jack service plus a $25 activation fee.

Moving Service to a New Residence

If you are a student moving to a different dorm room or apartment during the middle of the semester, you may have your optional Hoyanet services moved to your new location. It is your responsibility to notify UIS of your new address and the date when service should be moved. Service will not be moved automatically.

Bring your GOCard and your new address to the UIS Service Desk to request a service move. You will be charged an installation fee if you are moving cable service.

Students who move but do not request a service move or cancel their services are still responsible for service charges at the old location until a move request is made or service is cancelled.

Canceling Service

Hoyanet services are automatically disconnected and students unsubscribed at the end of each semester.  If you want to end your service before the end of the current semester, you must cancel your service or you will continue to be billed for it. Service is only pro-rated on a half-semesterly basis; see ?Other Cancellations? below.

Students Withdrawing or on Leave of Absence

If you voluntarily withdraw or take a leave of absence from the University, you may obtain a refund of Hoyanet service charges by notifying UIS of your departure in writing. Refunds will be granted based on your departure date according to the percentages listed below.
