Hoyanet Services: Dialing Instructions for Residence Hall Phones

On-campus Calls

Your campus extension is the last five digits of your full phone number. To call another campus phone number, dial only the extension. For example:

Off-campus Calls (Local and Long-Distance)

Dial 9 to access an outside line, then dial the full number you want to call. You need to dial the area code for local calls to Maryland or Virginia. For example:

Local DC calls

Local MD/VA calls
240/301/571/703 area codes

9 + area code + phone number

Long Distance (US Domestic) and
Toll-free (800/888/877) Calls

9 + access number for your personal or pre-paid card number.
You can find instructions on your card.

Long Distance (International) Calls

9 + access number for your personal or pre-paid card number.
You can find instructions on your card.

900 and 976 Numbers

Cannot be called from campus phones

Since long-distance and other toll calls are billed to your calling card, you can place them from any on-campus phone.

Speed Dial

Popular off-campus phone numbers are included in a student speed dial list. Just dial *8 and the 3 digit speed dial code from any residence hall phone.
