HOME » TELECOMMUNICATIONS » HOYANET PHONE & CABLE Hoyanet Services: Setting Up Cable TelevisionFollowing these simple steps after ordering cable can help to ensure that you can view all cable channels on your television: Have the right equipment You will need a standard coaxial cable to connect your television to the wall jack. If you are using separate VCRs or DVD players, you will need an extra cable for each unit. Coaxial cables are available from the bookstore in the Leavey Center and many office supply and electronics stores. Your television and any VCR or DVD player you want to connect to the cable service needs to be cable ready. Converter boxes are not available. Get connected Use a coaxial cable to connect the wall jack to the 'Video In' port on your television. If you are using VCRs, first connect the wall jack to the 'Video In' port on your player. Use another coaxial cable to connect the 'Video Out' port on the first player to the 'Video In' port on the television. If you are using more than one video player, insert them accordingly, always making sure that the television is the last device connected. Set up your television Make sure your television is set to receive a cable television signal. This setting is usually found in the television’s on-screen setup menu, but some older models may use a switch on the set. Consult your owner’s manual or the manufacturer’s Web site for assistance. If you wish to record from cable channels, set any video recorders connected to the television in the same manner. If your television or video recorder is not set to receive a cable signal, you will be able to view only the first 12 or so channels. |
