NetIDs for SUAs
Note that these instructions are intended for Main Campus and Medical Center Associates.
1. Initialize Your NetID Password
When your NetID has been assigned, you will be notified via e-mail. NetIDs are created without passwords for security reasons, so each password must be manually initialized. Please see Initializing Your NetID Password at the left for information on getting your password initialized.
Once you have a temporary password, go to https://netid-mgmt.georgetown.edu/passwd to create a permanent one.
Creating a permanent password triggers creation of the account required to log into a work station; you will need to create your password before trying to log into University computers.
2. E-mail -- @georgetown.edu Routing
For most Associates, receiving messages sent to your @georgetown.edu email address in your regular email account fulfills communication requirements. You can log into the email routing tool with your NetID and password to enter a non-Georgetown destination address (such as Gmail or your email address at your home institution).
3. Set up GUCalendar (optional)
Contact the Help Desk at 202-687-4949 to request access to Calendar. Setting up your Calendar requires two steps--downloading the program and enabling your Calendar. Links for each action are included on the GUCalendar page through the links Activate your GUCalendar account and Download Oracle Calendar.
Note that your computer may already have Oracle Calendar installed.
4. Requests for Other Services
Under some circumstances, Sponsors may request additional services, such as VPN access and GUMail account creation, on behalf of the Associate. Such requests must be based on valid business requirements. Information on such requests may be found at:
Xxxxxx (url here)
5. Multiple NetIDs
On occasion an individual may be assisgned more than one NetID when multiple records appear in the core business systems. If you discover that you have been assigned multiple NetIDs, please write the NetID Office, netid@georgetown.edu, for an evaluation of the specifics of your NetID situation and direction on your next steps
