ScanBook Instructions

ScanBook software scans custom evaluations using the pink ParScore Scantron forms.

1. Click on the "ScanBook" icon on the desktop.

2. From the ScanBook startup screen, click on the "File" menu and select "New."

3. Select "Job Definition" (if you will be using a pre-existing Form Definition) and click "OK."  A "Job Properties" window will appear.

4. The "Job Properties" window will open.

5. In the "Output file" portion, select the browse button .  Select the appropriate folder in which to save your file (normally H:\scanned results).  Enter a name for your file in the "File name" box.  Be sure to save it as a ".txt" file if you would like to import your results into Microsoft Excel.  Click the "Save" button.

6. The Job Properties window will return, with your new file name and location in the "Output File" box.  Next, place a comma (",") in the "Value" box of the "Delimiter" section.  (Do not click on "OK" yet.)

7. Click on the "Forms" tab of the "Job Properties" window.

8. If the appropriate form does not appear under the "available forms" column, select the correct location of your Form Definition File (".SH") in the "Form folder" section.

Click on the browse button   to select H:\scanned results.

9. Click on the select arrow to move the appropriate Form Definition File (".SH") from the "Available forms" column to the "Selected forms" column and then click "OK."

10. A new job window will be opened with the Form Definition File that you selected.

11. Under the "Process" menu, select "Scan Job."  Feed your forms into the scanner and release the input hopper.  When all scanning is complete, press the red "End" button on the scanner.  A Job Complete dialogue box will pop up on your screen.  Click "OK."

12. Under the "Window" menu, select "Process Log" to review output information.

13. When all scanning is complete, you may close ScanBook by clicking on the "File" menu and selecting "Exit."  Your ".txt" file is automatically saved to the location you specified in step #5.

Upon closing, you will also be asked if you would like to save your job (".job" file).  If you plan on repeating the job with the same settings, select "Yes" and save your job to the correct location (H:\scanned results).  Otherwise, select "No."
