HOW TO USE WINDOWS XP: GETTING WINDOWS UPDATES

  1. Hold down the Windows Logo key (windows logo key ) on you keyboard, then press the Pause|Break key on your keyboard.

Note: If your keyboard does not have a Windows logo key, click on the Start button, then click on Run. In the Run box, type SYSDM.CPL then click on the OK button.

  1. This will bring up the System Properties widow.
  1. Click on the Automatic Updates tab.

 

  1. Click on the box labeled Keep my computer up to date (a checkmark should appear in the box).

 

  1. Click on the button labeled Automatically download the updates and install them on the schedule I specify.

 

  1. Set the schedule to Every day and select a time to download and install the updates. Choose a time when your computer will be on.  If you are logged on to the computer when the updates are ready to install, you will have the option to delay the installation until a later time.

 

  1. Click on the OK button.
