How to Use Windows XP: Getting Windows Updates Manually

1.  Open Internet Explorer

2.  Type in the URL www.windowsupdate.com in the address bar and the select the Go button.

 

3.  The Windows Update homepage will appear.

 

 

4.  Select the Express button.

 

5.  The website will check you computer to see if it has the latest updates.

6.  If there are any updates to install, select the Install updates button.

 

7.  The updates will download and install themselves.  If the computer says it must restart before the updates can take effect, select the restart now button.

 

8.  Your computer is up-to-date.  To have your computer run scheduled windows updates see HOW TO USE WINDOWS XP:  GETTING WINDOWS UPDATES.
