Note: Although, originally written for Windows 95, these instructions will work with all Windows operating sytems (95 -- XP). Some screens and icons may look slightly different in the different operating systems, but the instructions will remain the same. |

Before you install any files, you must have an up-to-date anti-virus program installed on your computer. Make sure this program is set to scan files as you download them. | |
In most cases, when you put the CD into your drive, it will start playing automatically. It will either launch an installation program (wizard) that guides you through installing the software, or it will bring up a list of options (e.g., install program, read help files, etc). If you get a list of choices, click on the installation option for the software you want. This will start the installation wizard. |
Occasionally, your CD will not start automatically. In this case, follow the instructions below. |
If Your CD Does Not Start Automatically |
- Move your cursor to the bottom of your screen. If your Taskbar is not already up, this should bring it up.
- Click on the Start button on your Taskbar. This will bring up a menu.
- Click on Run.
- The Run screen will appear.
- Click on Browse.
 | |
- Just below the blue header, you will see a box labeled “look in.”
- Click the little Down Arrow on the right side of the box. This will bring up a list of drives.
 | |
- Click on your CD drive.
- You will need to Double Click on the file that starts the installation. Often, this file is called Setup.exe (as in this example). If you have the original installation instructions that came with the software, they will tell which file you need to Double Click on. If you don't have the instructions, and there's no file called "setup.exe," try looking for a file called install.exe.
 | |
- Click on the OK button.
