How to Use Spybot Search & Destroy 1.4: Installation and Configuration (Without Previous Versions of Spybot on your Computer)

Credit card fraud and identity theft are increasingly common in the online world.  Rogue programs collectively referred to as spyware and adware can monitor your online activities and send this information to third parties.  In order to practice safe computing, be sure to have an anti-spyware/adware program in addition to your anti-virus client.  In addition to Spybot Search & Destroy, you may choose to use Ad-Aware or Microsoft AntiSpyware.

1.  Using an Internet browser, navigate to Download Spybot 1.4.

2.  Download the installation file to your desktop.

3.  Double-click the spybotsd14 file on your desktop.    

         

 

 

 

4.  The Select Setup Language window will appear. Select a language and click the OK button.

 

 

5.  The Setup window will appear. Click the Next button.

 

 

6.  The License Agreement window will appear.

 

 

7.  Read the agreement, select on I accept the agreement, and click on the Next button.

8.  The Select Destination Location window will appear.

 

 

9.  Click on the Next button.

10.  The Select Components window will appear.

 

 

11.  If unchecked, check Main Files.  If checked, remove checks from all ofther checkboxes. Click on the Next button.

12.  The Select Start Menu Folder appears.

 

 

13.  Click on the Next button.

14.  The Select Additional Tasks window will appear.

 

 

15.  If unchecked, check Create desktop icons.  If checked, remove checks from all other checkboxes.  Click on the Next button.

16.  The Ready to Install window will appear.

 

 

17.  Click on the Install button.

18.  The Completing the Spybot - Search & Destroy Setup Wizard window will appear.

 

 

19.  Spybot Search & Destroy is now installed
