HOW TO USE ADOBE PAGEMAKER 7.0: Installing PageMaker

  1. Before you start your PageMaker installation, make sure to exit any programs that are running on your computer.
 

  1. Put the Adobe PageMaker application CD in your CD drive. AutoPlay Installer will start automatically. 

  2. When the AutoPlay Installer window opens, click the Installation button, then click the Adobe PageMaker 7.0 button.
AutoPlay Installer - click Installation then click Adobe PageMaker 7.0.
 
  1. The Adobe PageMaker 7.0 installer will open.

 
  1. Read the instructions then click the next button.
PageMaker installer - click Next.
 
  1. Here you will choose the variant of English that determines PageMaker's spelling and hyphenation.
 
  1. Click U.S. English. (A black dot will appear in the circle next to it.)

  2. Click the Next button.
Click U.S. English then click Next.
 
  1. You will now choose which language you want to use to read the Adobe PageMaker software license agreement.
 
  1. Reading and understanding the license agreement is important, so click the language you are most comfortable with. (A check mark will appear in the box next to it.)

  2. Click the Next button.
Click your language then click Next.
 
  1. PageMaker's software license agreement will open.
 
  1. Read the agreement to learn about the privleges and restrictions that come with your purchase of PageMaker.

  2. Click the Accept button to continue installing PageMaker.
Read the license agreement, then click Accept.
 
  1. Some of PageMaker's useful features are not included in a typical setup, so you will need to tell PageMaker to install them.
 
  1. Click Custom to install additonal PageMaker components.

  2. Click the Next button.
Click Custom then click Next.
 
  1. A list of available components will open.

     

  2. Click Color Libraries to add hundreds of color choices to PageMaker.

  3. If you work in languages other than English, click Dictionaries to install additional language support.
  1. Click the Change button.
Click Dictionaries then click Change.
 
  1. By default, all of the dictionaries will be selected for installation so click the dictionaries you do not need to install.

     

  2. Click the Continue button.
Click the dictionaries you do not need to install then click Continue.

 
  1. Scroll down through the window. Click the boxes next to Plugins and Scripts and Templates to select them for installation.

  2. Click the Next button.
Click Plugins & Scripts and Templates.

 
  1. The User Information window will open.
 
  1. Under "Product is registered to" click A Business.

  2. In the space provided, type your title (Mr., Ms., Mrs., Miss, Dr., etc.).

  3. You can use your Tab key to move quickly through the provided spaces. Type in your first name, middle initial, and last name.
Type your name, company, and serial number.
 

  1. Type in Georgetown University as your company.

  2. Type in your 24-digit Adobe PageMaker serial number.

  3. Click the Next button.
 
  1. A new window will open with your registration information. Check that you spelled all of your information correctly.
     
    1. If all of the information is correct, click the Yes button to proceed.

      To make corrections, click the No button to go back to the User Information window (step 22).

    Double-check your registration information.
     
    1. A new window will open. This window summarizes your PageMaker installation. If you see any mistakes, you can click the Back button to go back to previous steps. Once you are satisfied with your installation, click the Next button.
     
    1. PageMaker will take a minute to install on your computer.
    PageMaker installs.
     
    1. Remove the PageMaker CD from your CD drive then click the Finish button to restart your computer.
    Click Finish to restart your computer.
     
    1. Once your computer has restarted and you have logged back in, install a PostScript printer driver so that PageMaker can communicate with your printer.
