Scheduling Automatic Live Updates

    These instructions are for people who are using Windows 98, Windows 2000, or Windows XP. If your computer has a different operating system, go to the Software page and use the documentation for your operating system.

 

UIS offers Symantec AntiVirus free of charge to all Georgetown University students, faculty, and staff for use on home and office computers.


  1. If you have not already done so, open Symantec AntiVirus.

  2. Select Schedule Updates from the File menu.

 

  1. Click the Schedule button in the Schedule Virus Definition Updates window.

     
    1. Click Daily (A black dot will appear in the circle next to Daily).

       

    2. Next you will choose the time your live update should run. Select the time of day you want the live update to occur by clicking the down arrow of the At drop-down menu and choosing the desired time.

       

    3. Click the OK button.

     

    1. You will see your new Automatic LiveUpdate under "Automatic Updates." Click the OK button to close the window.

    2. Click the Exit button to close Symantec AntiVirus.

     
     

    Congratulations! If you've already set up an automatic virus scan, you've finished configuring Symantc AntiVirus 9.0.1.
