Scheduling Automatic Live Updates

    These instructions are for people who are using Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, or Windows XP. If your computer has a different operating system, go to the Software page and use the documentation for your operating system.

 


  1. If you have not already done so, open Symantec AntiVirus.

  2. Click File, then click Schedule Updates.

    Click File, then Schedule Updates.

 

  1. The Schedule Virus Definition Updates window will open. Click the Schedule button.

Click Schedule.

     
    1. The Virus Definition Update Schedule window will open. Below "Frequency", click Daily (A black dot will appear in the circle next to Daily).

       

    2. Under "When", you will choose the time your live update will run. Next to "At", click the down arrow. This will drop down a list of times.  Click the time of day you want the live update to occur.

       

    3. Click the OK button.

       

    Click Daily.

     

    1. You will see your new Automatic LiveUpdate under "Automatic Updates". Click the OK button to close the window.

    Set the frequency, time, and date then click OK.

     
     

    Congratulations! If you've already set up an automatic virus scan, you've finished configuring Symantc AntiVirus 8.1.
