Phoenix File Service: What is PFS?

(NoteDetailed instructions on how to use PFS will be posted soon.)

The Phoenix File Service (PFS) is a fee-based file storage service that complements the GUShare Web-based file service. PFS can provide network storage space to Georgetown departments who have special needs when managing their data files.

Does My Department Need PFS Space?

Your department may want to consider obtaining PFS if it needs to:

  • Use databases that require a mapped drive and concurrent connections
  • Use programs that require access to a central data store

Obtaining PFS Space

Space is available in 2GB increments. To request PFS space, complete the PFS Request Form.

Obtaining PFS Space

Once it purchases PFS space, each department must designate a primary and backup staff member to serve as its data manager. The data manager can grant access to all or part of the department?s PFS space to any individual in that department. Various levels of access determine what an individual can and cannot do with a given file in the PFS space.
