Mapping an EFS network driveYou must save all data files that contain confidential data to a secure, encrypted storage space instead of on your computer hard drive. Many departments can use their Phoenix EFS (Extended File System) for this purpose. If you have access issues with your existing departmental share, click here. For departments that do not have space, UIS will provide space. NOTE: Users with UIS allocated space, can locate their space on:
To use the UIS allocated EFS space, you must map a drive to the EFS network. 1. Click on the My Computer icon on your desktop to open up the My Computer window. 2. Go to Tools/Map Network Drive...
3. In the Folder box enter \\Phoenix.georgetown.edu\EFS66\netid (remember to change netid for your own netid). Click Finish to create your EFS space. 4. Open and checked the content of each file in the report file, Find_SSNs.html, generated by the Find_SSN software. Then decide whether to keep or delete each file. Their exact location is given in the report, for example, C:\dell\drivers\R41703\README.HTM
Please Read NOTE: If you are in any way unsure of this process, contact the UIS Help Desk or wait until a member of the Rapid Response Team can assist you. Make sure prior to deleting your files that you no longer need them. If in any doubt, save them to your EFS space. Do not delete them. UIS can not retrieve deleted files nor is it responsible for deleted files. Remember, if you have any further questions, our technicians will review the report with you to determine what data should be kept or deleted 5. Having deleted the files you do not need, upload the files you want to keep to your EFS space. You are now ready to move on to the third and final step - using the Eraser Tool. Click here for instructions. Issues using your existing departmental EFS network space For users who get a access denied message while trying to use your current departmental EFS shared space, may have an access issue. Please contact your Departmental Technical Representative directly.
