UIS Rapid Response Team Initiatives

Georgetown University Information Services (UIS), through the initiatives of the University-wide Task Force on data security is working with individuals across campus to increase security efforts with regards to data protection and a heightened awareness of IT security best practices in general.

The UIS team is already implementing enhanced information security measures. Efforts include limiting the use of social security numbers (SSNs) and using GOCard and NetIDs to identify individuals instead, the provision of secure laptops to individuals who perform critical business system functions, providing a secure environment where all personally identifiable information can be hosted instead of on individual hard drives, and conducting desk top scanning of individual computers to identify and remove any personally identifiable information. 

UIS staff will continue reaching out to individuals and departments, with priority for those who access financial data and personally identifiable information as part of their business functions to conduct work.
