UIS Tip of the Week: Setting up Text to Start Automatically on a New Page

You can set up a style (or modify an existing style) so that any text to which you apply that style will start on a new page. Setting this up can be helpful if, for example, you want all the subheadings in your document to start on a new page.

  1. Select Styles and Formatting from the Format menu.

A styles and formatting window/pane is displayed to the right of your document.

  1. Select the style you want to modify by moving your mouse over that style, clicking on the down-pointing arrow, and then selecting Modify. (If you need to create a new style, click on the New Style button. The New Style window will be displayed.)

  1. Click on the Format button located at the lower left of the Modify Style window, and then select Paragraph from the list of displayed options.

  1. Click on the Line and Page Breaks tab in the Paragraph window.
  2. Select the option Page break before, and then click OK.

  1. Click OK in the Modify Style window.
  2. Apply the style you just modified to the desired text. Any text to which you apply the style, or to which you applied the style previously, will automatically move to the top of a new page of your document.
