UIS Tip of the Week: Search for Web Pages Linking to Your Page

"He wove a great web of knowledge, linking everything together, and sat modestly at a switchboard at the center, eager to help."

That's how Walter Kerr described fellow drama critic, Seymour Peck. Well, OK, maybe I'm no Mr. Peck when it comes to maintaining your Web site, but I do my best to keep up my links, and I'd sure like to know just who out there in cyber space is linking to my pages. Now you too can find out, quickly and easily.

  1. Open your favorite web browser go to http://search.georgetown.edu.
  1. Click on the Advanced link.
  1. Beside Find pages that link to the page, type the web address for your page.
  1. Click on the Search button.

This will give you a list of the pages on the Georgetown web site that are linking to your page. If you want to know if pages outside of Georgetown are linking to your page, go to www.google.com and follow the same procedure.
