UIS Tip of the Week: Bookmarking all Open Tabs
If you're like me, you always have multiple tabs open in your browser. But what do you do if you need to close your browser, but don't want to lose any of those Web pages that it took you precious time to find? You can bookmark them, but then you'd have all these bookmarked pages that you'd have to find and organize.
There's now a much easier way to do this. You can now save all those pages, and have them stored in a separate folder, in one step. Below are steps for how to do this in Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari.
Bookmarking all Open Tabs in Internet Explorer 8
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Select Add Tabs to Favorites from the Tools menu.

- In the Add Tabs to Favorites window, enter a descriptive name for your new folder in the Folder Name field. (Internet Explorer will create a new folder in which all the bookmarks you're adding will be inserted. In the example below, "Tech Web Sites 032311" has been entered as the folder name.).
- Select where you want to save the folder from the Create in drop-down list, or leave Favorites as the selected location.
- Click on the Add button when you're done.

- Click on the Favorites menu to view your new folder, and then move your mouse over the folder name to view all the bookmarks in the folder, as shown in the example below.

Bookmarking all Open Tabs in Firefox 3.6.x
- Open Firefox.
- Select Bookmark All Tabs from the Bookmarks menu.
- In the New Bookmarks pop-up window, enter a descriptive name for your new folder in the Name field. (Firefox will create a new folder in which all the bookmarks you're adding will be inserted. In the example below, "News Sites" has been entered as the folder name.)
- Select where you want Firefox to store your folder by clicking on the down-pointing arrow next to the Folder field, or just leave Bookmarks Menu as the location.
- Click on the Add Bookmarks button.

- Click on the Bookmarks menu to view your new folder and its contents, as shown in the example below.

Bookmarking all Open Tabs in Safari 5
- Open Safari.
- Select Add Bookmark for These ___ Tabs from the Bookmarks menu.
- In the pop-up window, enter a descriptive name for your new folder. (Firefox will create a new folder in which all the bookmarks you're adding will be inserted. In the example below, "News Sites" has been entered as the folder.)
- Select where you want Safari to store the folder by clicking on the double arrow button, or just leave Bookmarks Bar as the location.
- Click on the Add button when you're done.

- Select Show All Bookmarks from the Bookmarks menu to view your new folder and all the bookmarks in that folder, as shown in the example below.
