UIS Tip of the Week: Tabbed Browsing

Recently, I researched something online and had to compare a lot of different search results at the same time. I ended up swimming in browser windows, and it took forever to switch between them. By the time I moved to another browser window, I forgot what I read in the last one!

Then I learned that in Firefox and Safari, you can set up tabbed browser windows. With tabs, you only need ONE browser window open, with one tab open for each browser window. To switch between windows, all you need to do is click on a tab. You can have oodles of windows, or tabs, open at the same time.

Need to save your tabs? No problem. You can even bookmark your tabbed pages.

To open a tabbed browser in:

Firefox (Windows)

Press <Ctrl> + T or select New Tab from the File menu.

Firefox (Mac)

Press Command key + T or select New Tab from the File menu.

Safari (Mac)

Press Command key + T or select New Tab from the File menu.
