Blackboard News New Login and Help Pages, New Advanced Course
New Blackboard Login Page
The Blackboard support team, a part of the Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship, has redesigned the Blackboard login page in an effort to simplify the login process and to incorporate links to helpful user resources.
The new login page contains links to Frequently Asked Questions for both faculty and students. The FAQs address the most frequent questions the help team has answered since the beginning of last fall. The faculty FAQ, for instance, provides information on how to make a course available, how to merge or combine course sections, and how to have course content copied from one course site to another. The student FAQ focuses on login problems, course availability, and features like e-mail and the digital drop box.
The login page also links to a new form through which Blackboard users can submit help requests. The support team strongly encourages everyone to use the form, as it provides a convenient way to enter information and helps the support team analyze and assign help requests.
The new page will be online by March 1. The address remains http://campus.georgetown.edu.
New "Beyond the Basics" course
Starting this spring, the Blackboard support team will also be offering a new Blackboard course to faculty, teaching assistants, and staff. This course will focus on advanced features:
- Using HTML in Blackboard to gain more control over a page's look or content.
- Different ways of integrating PowerPoint presentations in Blackboard.
- Ways of adding images, sound, and video to a Blackboard site.
The course will be offered on
- Monday, March 8 from 11:30 to 12:45.
- Wednesday, March 17 from 2:30 to 3:45.
As always, participants should register at http://uis.georgetown.edu/training/. |
