KeyBridge: Georgetown's Contract Web Development Service
Mary Pickering
KeyBridge, Georgetown University's contract Web development group, has worked with nearly 30 clients developing Web applications, redesigning Web sites and creating new Web sites. As a unit of University Information Services, KeyBridge is able to bring to the table knowledge of University systems and collaboration with other University operations as well as professional Web development services.
The most ambitious project undertaken by KeyBridge so far has been the School of Nursing and Health Studies (SNHS) Web site. The school's previous site didn't meet the need to increase applications, so KeyBridge and SNHS worked together to create a site appealing to high school students. The challenge was multifaceted:
- Present the “new” image of nursing to teenagers who may be turned off by the traditional image of nursing.
- Inform prospective students about the exciting possibilities in the new field of health studies.
- Promote the advantages of a Georgetown education.
To fulfill these requirements, KeyBridge used a trend-setting color palette that still hearkens back to the blue and gray of Georgetown, featured images of real SNHS students, and defined SNHS in language that resonates with prospective students.
Next page—The site went live in October 2001 and thanks to strong marketing, the news has been very promising. page 1, page 2, page 3
