GOCard Services Arriving Soon!

Larry Dupuis

GOCard logoAuxiliary Services, University Information Services, and Facilities Management are pleased to announce that all planned GOCard services will be available on the Main and Medical Campuses by the Fall 2002 semester.

GOCards will replace all existing ID card functions such as building access, Library circulation, Yates membership verification, and dining services. In addition, it will incorporate all existing debit card functions including copying, printing, microfiche to print, and Laundry. GOCards will also serve new debit card functions: vending, payment of fines and fees at some campus departments, and payment to on and off-campus merchants who have partnered with Georgetown and GOCard. We expect the list of merchants and campus services to continue to grow throughout the next year.

The GOCard project is currently focusing on seven buildings: Lauinger Library, Dahlgren Memorial Library, Leavey Center, Yates, Darnall, New South, and the Blommer Science Library in Reiss. The first GOCard services will be vending, copying, and, in the Libraries, Uniprint. Soon after, access to the buildings will also be GOCard-enabled. Our goal is to complete this phase of the project in March. Uniprint in the computer labs, Library circulation, dining services, laundry, and Yates membership verification will follow in the summer.

Work will start in ICC, McDonough, the remaining residence halls, and the remaining Medical Campus buildings shortly thereafter, with a target date for completing work in June. Throughout that period, we expect to add new services every week or two.

If you or any members of your department have not yet gotten your GOCard, please be sure to do so soon--the card will be required for building access in some locations starting in March. The GOCard Office is located in the Leavey Clock Tower (to the left of the stairs to the Leavey Center main entrance) and is open from 9:00 to 5:30 Monday through Friday. Please be sure to retain your old ID card through the end of the summer semester.

Larry Dupuis is GOCard project manager for University Information Services.
