Two From Georgetown to Attend Frye Institute

Two of Georgetown's own—Jane Blumenthal at the School of Medicine and Michael Neuman from the Main Campus—have been accepted to participate in the prestigious Frye Institute this coming June.
The Frye Institute is an intensive two-week program held each year at Emory University. The purpose of the program is to provide an atmosphere conducive to in-depth learning, reflection, and discussion among dedicated professionals in higher education who have demonstrated leadership in developing information technology to promote academic exchange. Following the two-week program, the participants engage in a yearlong practicum in which they explore information technology issues on their home campuses and apply the insights they have gained.
Jane Blumenthal is Assistant Dean for Knowledge Management in the School of Medicine and Director of Dahlgren Memorial Library. Blumenthal says she is looking forward to the intellectual challenge of the Institute and welcomes the opportunity to get an outside perspective on Georgetown's efforts and direction.
Michael Neuman, Director of the Research, Curriculum, and Development Group within University Information Services and the CNDLS Partnership, has proposed a practicum on advancing Library-IT collaborations through project-management methodologies, and from the Frye Institute he hopes to learn more about the financial, political, and cultural forces that often constrain but sometimes promote collaboration.
