Step 1. Ensure that print services have been installed on your computer.
- Click on the Start button and then select Control Panel.

- From the Control Panel, click on Programs.

- From the Programs and Features category, click on Turn Windows features on or off.

- Click Continue in the User Account Control window. The Windows Features window is displayed. (Note: You may see a Please wait message while Windows Vista loads all the features.)

- Click on the plus sign next to Print Services to display its features.
- Click the check box next to Internet Printing Client and LPR Port Monitor so that these features are selected.
- Click OK.

You many receive the following message while Vista configures the features.

The message and the Windows Features window will disappear when the printing features have been configured. |

Step 2. Add a new printer.
- Select Control Panel from the Start button.
- Click on Printer under the Hardware and Sound category.

- Click on the Add a Printer button in the Printers window.

- In the Add Printer window, click on Add a Local Printer.

- In the next Add Printer window, select Create a New Port.
- From the Type of Port drop-down menu, select LPR Port.
- Click the Next button.

- In the Add LPR compatible printer window:
- Type pharos-1.georgetown.edu in the field Name or address of server providing lpd.
- Type SWQ_1_Q in the field Name of printer or port queue on that server.
- Click OK.

A list of compatible printers is displayed. |
- Select either Hewlett-Packard or Lexmark from the Manufacturer list.
- Select the the printer model from the Printers list (see Pharos Printers for the printer manufacturer and model.)

- Type a name for the printer. You can leave the name that already appears, or type a new name.
- Select whether you want the printer to be your default printer.
- Click on the Next button when you're done.

You should see the following message that your printer was added:

Repeat this procedure to add more printers. |
- You can also view the Printers window to see your new printer.

Step 3. Send your document to the lab printer.
Choose the network printer you installed, and go to that lab to retrieve your printout.
In the lab to which you sent your document for print, your document will be held under the name of your computer account along with the document name. For example, if you were logged in to the "Suzie" account on your computer and printed "My History Paper.doc," your document would be sent to the print station with the name Microsoft Word - My History Paper.doc with owner "Suzie." |

Step 4. Print your document from the lab printer.
Go to the printer in the lab to which you sent your print job. When you swipe your GOCard at the top of the keyboard, you should see your print job in the queue labeled with the name of your computer or your NetID.
