Students: Purchasing Software

Before you buy any software, remember that you may be able to obtain certain common computer programs at no cost (e.g. antivirus software). Some of these programs are available as downloads, and others can be borrowed from Hoya Computing's Lending Library.

UIS Software Database
Many programs are available at reduced cost, so make sure to check the UIS Software Database to see what's available to you (when prompted, enter your NetID and password to access the database). 

Georgetown's Microsoft, Adobe, and SPSS Portal (E-Academy)
Student purchases of Microsoft, Adobe, and SPSS Software can be made through Georgetown's Microsoft Portal (E-Academy). You will prompted to enter your net-id and password.

CDW-G 

If the software you need is not listed in the UIS Software Database, please e-mail Hoya Computing for a price quote, or request a quote directly from CDW-G using your personal account . First time CDW-G users without an account, click here.

When you contact Hoya Computing, please specify the name, quantity, software version, and platform on which it will be run in the e-mail. If you do not need a price quote before ordering, you may go ahead and order the software directly from CDW-G.

You can also buy software from the GU Bookstore in the Leavey Center. The bookstore's telephone number is (202) 687-7482.

Before purchasing software, please note that certain new computer systems include a wide variety of software. If software is included with your computer, you do not need to purchase it separately. Students are not covered by Georgetown's Microsoft Campus Agreement. Students must make sure that they purchase word processing, spread sheet, and presentation software with a new computer. Please check with your computer's manufacturer to verify which software titles are included in your system.
