HOYA COMPUTING: PURCHASING COMPUTERS
Personal Purchases
Buying the right computer is a daunting task, but Hoya Computing is here to help you. First, you should check the recommended minimum specifications and make sure that what you're buying will meet your needs. If the specs don't make sense to you, try looking through our Student Buying Guide. When you have an idea of what you need, visit Georgetown's PremierDell Store and Georgetown's Apple Store (click on the link for "recommended systems" from the Apple page) and pick the system that's right for you. Also, make sure to visit our Special News and Notices page to check if there aren't any limited-time great Dell/Apple offers that will grab your attention. And remember, if you ever get confused, you can call Hoya Computing for help.
NOTE: PLEASE CHECK OUR NEWS SECTION FOR "STACKABLE" SPECIAL SUMMER SAVING OFFERS THROUGH OUR DELL AND APPLE STORES
Note: McDonough School of Business students have special requirements; you should contact the MSB Technology Center.
Current Specials on Dells and Apples are located in the Hoya Computing News and Notices Page.
Institutional Purchases
Institutional purchases with University funds are open to departments and individual GU employees with spending authority for capital equipment. All purchasers must provide a valid GU budget number and abide by all University procurement regulations.
First, understand the Computer Replacement Cycle and decide if you really need to buy a computer. If you need to buy a computer, check the required specifications and familiarize yourself with the University's purchasing procedures. Then purchase an Apple computer or a Dell computer.
