HOYA COMPUTING: INSTITUTIONAL PURCHASE PROCEDURES FOR PERIPHERALS

Check with your system administrator before making an institutional purchase of any computer peripheral. The system administrator must approve the addition of the peripheral to your computer system. The UIS Help Desk can inform you if there are any known issues with particular peripherals.

Go online (CDW-G and Apple both list peripherals) and find a peripheral that meets your needs. Then, print out the listing page as your price quote. Double-check that the peripheral will do what you want it to do, in your own system, by showing the listing and any information you obtain from the manufacturer's Web site to your system administrator or Departmental Technical Representative (DTR).
PROCARD users you may purchase computer peripherals and supplies that cost less than $500 directly with your procard. For items that cost more than $500 you must go through the regular purchase order process. We encourage you to contact UIS if you have any questions or concerns regarding the compatibility and interoperability of the devices that you need. - You have three options for placing the order for your peripheral:
- Using your GU-issued departmental credit card, place the peripheral order on-line. Please note your order number, as this is required to track, change or cancel your order once it is placed (see .
- Using your GU-issued departmental credit card, place the peripheral order over the phone by calling Dell (1-800-274-7799). Please note your order number, as this is required to track, change or cancel your order once it is placed.
- Prepare a GU Purchase Order for the peripheral, and send it and your price quote to Elizabeth Goodloe; Suite 2000, 3300 Whitehaven St., N.W., (202-687-6042, Fax: 202-687-2506), goodloee@georgetown.edu.
- Installation and Configuration of new Computer Peripherals:
- If UIS Technology Support Services (TSS) maintains the computer systems in your department, call the UIS Help Desk at (202) 687-4949 to schedule a service call to install and configure your new peripheral in your computer. Please note that it may require up to 5 business days from the day the peripheral arrives until TSS can finish the installation, so please plan accordingly. If any CDs or manuals are shipped with the peripheral, please hold onto these because TSS may need them to properly install the peripheral.
- If your department maintains its own computer systems, call your system administrator to install your new peripheral when it arrives. Procedures and time requirements vary from department to department, so please contact your system administrator and plan accordingly.
