GU Apps: Configuring Windows Mobile 6 Standard for GUMail

Follow these steps to access your GUMail account with a Windows Mobile 6 Standard device (no touchscreen). If your device has a touch screen, use the Windows Mobile 6 Professional instructions.

  1. On the main screen, click Start > Messaging.

  2. Select New E-mail Account...

  3. In the E-mail address field enter your @georgetown.edu e-mail address and uncheck Try to get e-mail settings automatically from the Internet. Click Next.

  4. For Your e-mail provider, move left twice to select Internet e-mail. Select Next.

  5. In the Your name field, enter your name as you would like it to appear on outgoing messages. In the Account display name field, enter GUMail or another descriptive name. Click Next.

  6. In the Incoming mail server field, enter gumail.georgetown.edu.
    For Account type choose IMAP4. Click Next.

  7. In the User name field, enter your NetID; in the Password field enter your password. Check the Save password checkbox. Select Next.

  8. In the Outgoing (SMTP) mail server field enter smtp.georgetown.edu. Check the Outgoing server requires authentication and Use the same user name and password for sending e-mail checkboxes. Select the Advanced Server Settings link.

  9. Check the Require SSL for Incoming e-mail and Require SSL for Outgoing e-mail checkboxes. For Network connection select The Internet. Click Done. On the next screen, click Next.

  10. Set Automatic Send/Receive as desired, then click Finish.
