GU Apps: Configuring Palm for GUMail with VersaMail 3.1

Before You Begin

These instructions assume:

  • You have an account on the GUMail Faculty/Staff system
  • You have a wireless Palm OS handheld device that supports VersaMail 3.1
    • Palm TX
    • Palm Treo 650
    • Palm LifeDrive
  • VersaMail 3.1 is installed on the device

Some notes and warnings:

  • Other Palm devices have different versions of VersaMail. All of the critical settings are the same, but the arrangement of the configuration screens is significantly different.
  • The instructions apply only to accessing GUMail on a Palm PDA through a wireless Internet connection (e.g., Wi-Fi, cellular, Bluetooth), not synchronizing via a Hotsync.
  • If you are using Wi-Fi, be sure to set up a Wi-Fi connection. For information on AirHoya, Georgetown's Wi-Fi wireless network, see http://airhoya.georgetown.edu.
