UIS H1N1 Resources: GUShare: Downloading Files to Your Computer

You can download any file from your GUShare account to your computer. You can transfer more than one file at a time.

GUShare automatically creates a zip file of the files you download. Each file you download is contained within the .zip file. After you download the .zip file to your computer, you'll be able to open (extract) it.

Note:  The following procedure assumes you're using Mozilla Firefox. If you're using Internet Explorer or another web browser, you'll see nearly the same windows and prompts as those shown below.

  1. Go to the directory where the file(s) you want to download are located.
  1. Select the file(s) you want to download by clicking the box next to it so that a check mark appears.
  1. Click on the Download button, which is located in the button bar at the top of the GUShare window.

The window shown below will be displayed.

  1. In the window shown above, make sure the option Save to Disk is selected (or click on the Save button if you're using Internet Explorer).

Notice that the name of the .zip file being created is also the name of the folder from which you're downloading the file(s). In this example, the directory is called "new-test-directory."
  1. Click on the OK button to download the .zip file. Depending on your browser settings, the .zip file may be saved automatically to your Desktop, or you may be asked to choose a location in which you want to save it.

To open the .zip file, double-click on the .zip file icon.
