GUMail: How to Opt Out of the Spam Service

If you have a business critical need to recieve ever message you are sent, and do not want to take advantage of GUMail's anti-spam service for your e-mail please complete the following step-by-step directions.  If you forward your e-mail to another e-mail provider or system, you cannot opt out of the this service. 

 

  1. Go to the Set Your E-mail Delivery web page.
  2. At the prompt, type your NetID in the User Name text area, then type your NetID password in the Password text area.


  3. Click OK.
  4. Click on the Change Alternate button, located in the same row as your NetID.



  5. Scroll down (if necessary) until you see the option If your Georgetown e-mail service is GUMail.
  6. If your Georgetown e-mail service is GUMail, click on the box under this option heading so that a check mark appears.


  7. Scroll down to the bottom of the Web page, and then click on the Submit Changes button.


    If your changes were completed successfully, you will be taken to a new screen and should see a button labeled "Change Complete. Click here to continue."


  8. Click on the Change Complete. Click here to continue. button to return to the Mail Delivery Information window and view your change, as shown in the example below.



  9. Close your browser window after you've viewed the change.

 

Now that you've opted out of the spam service, send a test e-mail message to yourself to ensure that your mail is working properly. (Note: When you send a message to yourself, continue to enter your e-mail address as you have previously, in the format netid@georgetown.edu.)
