GUMail: How to Opt Out of the Spam Service

  1. Go to the Set Your E-mail Delivery web page.
  1. At the prompt, type your NetID in the User Name text area, and then type your NetID password in the Password text area.
  2. Click OK.

  1. Click on the Change Entry button, located in the same row as your NetID.

  1. Scroll down until you see the option To use an alternative account as your primary delivery location.
  2. Click on the button under this option heading so that a dot appears.
  1. In the corresponding text area, type yournetid@tagspam.imap.georgetown.edu. (For example, if your NetID is abc123, type "abc123@tagspam.imap.georgetown.edu."

Important: Make sure to type this correctly; otherwise, your mail won't be delivered.

  1. Scroll down to the bottom of the web page, and then click on the Submit Changes button.

If your changes were completed successfully, you should see the window shown below.

  1. Click on the Change Complete. Click here to continue. button to return to the Mail Delivery Information window and view your change.

You'll notice that "tagspam" now appears in the e-mail routing address, as shown below.

  1. Now that you've opted out of the spam service, send a test e-mail message to yourself to ensure that your mail is working properly. (Note: When you send a message to yourself, continue to enter your e-mail address as you have previously, in the format "netid@georgetown.edu."
